That looks like a very restful spot. Beautiful work, Dave! The Validus sketch is non-too-shabby either.

I’m never sure what I look forward too more, the mysterious story or the beautiful art.

Ah…mysterious healing herbs in an oasis of peace. It’s what we all wish for, I think.
Or maybe it’s just me…

Also: that Validus is the bee’s knees, buddy! Cool beans is an understatement. Them beans is positively CHILLY!

Man, he just looks so lonely. I mean look at the vastness all around him…it’s intimidating and makes such a huge man look very small

Loving the pacing! It does have a nice cinematic feel. I also dig the dappled sunlight.
I guess they made it to the tree over the weekend!
And I am THRILLED to win the sketch! Guess who I’ll be picking? It am not rhyme with “Dadzarro”!

BTW, what medium are you painting this in?
January 12th, 2010 at 10:48 am
Thanks for the comments, guys! I really enjoyed working on this page. I like quite moments and I’m glad the feeling of loneliness came across as Shan has just left so much behind.
Filthy: Glad you like the sketch, it’s on it’s way to the Great White North!
Dadzarro: I’ll be sending you an email soon. To your question: I sketch in the computer, ink on paper, then color back on the computer in Photoshop.

I need some of that stuff right now. 🙁

Nice quiet moment.. Do you pace the story based on the fact were are reading each panel a couple of days apart, or for some end point where its all collected together?

congrats to dadzarro on the win-we’ll have to compare sketches when we get them.

Simon_H: We try to keep in mind that each page is posted one at a time, while also working as part of a whole. It’s a sort of balancing act. If that makes any sense.

The colours in this strip and the pacing are amazing. Shan is my favourite guy so far.
Great stuff for a wet Sunday afternoon 😀
