Chapter 4 Page 11
Howdy, folks. Once again we apologize for the delay this month. There was a technical difficulty getting the page up, but we think it’s all worked out now. And we hope to be back to the weekly schedule soon-ish.
Dave is now accepting sketch pre-orders for Heroes Con and Summit City Comiccon. If you haven’t seen his sketch work, you’re really missing out on some wonderful stuff. Head on over to Dave’s art blog for all the details.
See you next time!

May not be rule #1, but don’t yell before striking. Reminds me of the time when I was in this street fight…stupid girl.

Great detail in the mechanical hand and it’s great seeing this still coming…
As for the yelling before the fight wouldn’t he have been better just attacking over taking verbal jabs at him?

Maybe he was stalling for time, to get his bearings after being thrown some distance. Yeah, that’s it.

A yell(Kiai) while striking is common in many martial arts to..
Frighten/surprise/immediate your enemy.
Prime oneself for combat, by “amping up.”
Protect the upper body from a strike by providing an escape route for exhaled air.
Protect the lower body by rapidly contracting the transverse abdominals and other core muscles, shielding the internal organs.
Provide solid abdominal support for striking techniques.
Focus energy/ki.
